How we evaluate

This page explains how our guides are researched and how to read what we write.

What we do

We start with the space. For each guide we work out what the room or the product needs: floor load, ceiling height, footprint, temperature and moisture, and storage. Then we look at what fits.

We compare manufacturer specifications. Dimensions, weight capacity, materials, adjustment range and included parts come from the manufacturer’s product page and manual. When a number matters, such as the height of a rack or the thickness of a mat, we check it against the manual where one is available.

We read warranty terms. Length, what is covered and what voids it.

We look for patterns in buyer feedback. One review proves little, so we look at what many buyers report again and again, such as parts that loosen, noise, wobble, or products that arrive damaged. We know reviews can be biased, so we treat them as a signal, not proof.

We say who a product is not for. Every product guide names the space, budget or training style where the product is a poor choice.

We do the math. For measurements such as ceiling clearance, we show the calculation so you can repeat it in your own room.

Our standards

Every guide is built from the sources above. Ratings and claims come from those sources, never from invented numbers.

Our recommendations are not for sale. We do not accept payment to review a product or to place it higher in a guide.

For electrical work, gas lines, structural changes and medical questions, guides point you to a qualified professional instead of giving DIY steps.

How we handle uncertainty

When the manufacturer does not publish a figure, or sources disagree, the guide says so. Prices and stock change quickly, so check the retailer’s page before you buy.

Updates and corrections

Guides carry a Last updated date that changes only when the guide has actually been checked and changed. If you find an error, email us and we will review and correct it.
